Screw Conveyor Description
Screw conveyor is - in various forms and designs - most often used device for transport and dosing of bulk material. m-tec CZ offers wide range of screw conveyor types intended for different installations and industry branches.
The screw conveyors are always designed for required hour transport power from order kilograms per hour up to high-capacity dosing of 150 cbm per hour. The three stage design of a screw shaft gives reliable transport of material even at 100% filling of a screw inlet. On the base of multiyear expiriences we manage to design screws also for problematic materials without a danger of screw conveyor jamming. The special design of shaft support keeps bearings from damage even at eventual outflowing of material through a sealing. Thanks to skills with hundreds of screws in operation there are the design, high lifespan and high reliability for all kinds of bulk material (including abrassive) completely mastered.
Optional drive support and placing, and different ways of power transmission (chain, coupling, shaft-mounted gearbox) give a high variability of screw conveyors use and installation.
The screw coveyors can be devided from various points of view into several groups:
By used design:
- Tubular screw conveyors
- reliable and compact screws with a chance of higher material filling, and thereby chance of higher transport power.
- Trough screw conveyors
- easy access inside of screw for better checking of transport way and easier intervention in case of problem during heavy material transport.
By transported materials:
- mass durable screw conveyors – intended for crushed stone, fire sand and others abrassive materials.
- light screw conveyors – light, more simple and cheaper kind of screw for transport of wood chips, crushed plastic, rubber, food etc.
By transported material amount and its density:
- DSD, KSD - high-capacity tubular or trough screws up to power of 150cbm/h and length of cca 8m.
- DSD-M – shaft interbearing system for light materials (lime, cement) for longer transport way up to cca 15m.
- DSD-Z – lighted, more simple version for transport of cereals, wood chips, paper, plastic etc.
- ASD – screw with ruffling drum at inlet for smaler dosing amount of powdered aditive materials.
There is also option to combine stated designs to achieve the best solution for concrete material in set conditions. This high variability of design allows using of the screw conveyors almost in all industry branches for wide variety of bulk material kinds.
Experiences and necessary approvals allow us to design special screw conveyors for specific materials and extreme environment:
- Transport of solid bulk fuels in ATEX conditions
- Pressurized design (10 bar) resistant against to explosion and fire inside a system.
- Screw conveyors for preparation of dust-free mixtures with a water or parafine injection and subsequent mixing.
Tubular Screw Conveyors
Tubular screw is an ideal efficient type for powdered and granular dry bulk materials. In a dosing version they properly work as an accurate doser of material into a gravimetric and volumetric scales, or as an additive screw for dosing of small amount of chemical and additive materials.

Trough Screw Conveyors
These screws are suitable for transport of materials which can not be transported by tubular screws properly due to their mechanical characteristics. Particularly there are materials which can be damaged by pressing or squeezing, or which can cause jamming of the screw (glairy or cloggy materials).

Wetting Dustless Screw Conveyors
It is separate version of tubular screw conveyor equipped in addition by special system for injection and mixing of liqid parafin into a material to rapid decreasing of material dustiness. The material modified by this way is then prepared for comfortable use on site.

Microdosing Screw Conveyors
They are intended for dosing of powdered, but also of grainy materials (up to 8mm grains) in order of hundreds grams per hour. The microdosing unit is designed as separate portable unit including a hopper and drive which is equipped by frequency convertor and cooler. It can be used independently or as a part of existing technology unit.

Special Screw Conveyors
Here there is possible to find screw conveyors, designed for transport of flammable and explosive
materials, and which comply with strict requirements set for explosive environment. These screws
are made and tested like pressure vessels for overpressure up to 10 Bar to be kept high safety level
in case of fire or explosion of transported material.
The special screw section also covered screws for standard materials but which are - thanks
to their character - hard to transport by standard screw conveyor. It is e.g. wooden chips and swarfs,
heating briquets, bio waste, sludge or dirty water, when screw works as a water staging pump.
